1. Rose Garden, Chandigarh 




Located in sector 16 of Chandigarh, Rose Garden is a blooming garden which showcases nature at its best. The garden is spread over a massive area of 30 acres and is packed with an exquisite variety of flowers making it quite popular among tourists and nature enthusiasts. It is the largest garden of its kind in Asia and was built in the year 1967 under the guidance of the First Chief Commissioner, MS Randhawa. Named after India's former president Zakir Hussain, the Rose Garden is also known as Zakir Hussain Rose Garden. 
As the name suggests, the park exhibits some of the rarest and exquisite varieties of roses and is said to be home to about 825 varieties of flowers. The other major attraction of the garden is more than 32,500 varieties of trees and medicinal plants. Neatly planted in an orderly way by expert gardeners, the garden serves as a perfect place to gather around and relax. The place is a sight to behold when the flowers are in their full bloom. The natural beauty of this garden is only enhanced by the presence of azure mountains in the background. A beautifully laid down fountain is also placed in the midst of the Rose Garden. With its relaxing environment and verdant beauty, Rose Garden is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city of Chandigarh.

Architecture of Rose Garden

Spread across a vast area of over 30 acres, Rose Garden is one of the Asia's largest Rose garden. It has several entrances and a parking facility as well. Designed like a park, this garden is adorned with long stretches of green grass to walk on and several benched places under the tree for relaxing under the shade. Long stretches and curved paths are all over the park for joggers or those exercising. A small lake - like structure is also present in the garden where you can relax and unwind or do a bit of bird watching. You can also find some food stalls installed outside the garden.

February to March is the best time to visit Rose Garden as the flowers are in full bloom during this season.

How to Reach Rose Garden

You can easily reach the destination by various modes of transportation. Buses, taxis and autos are available from any part of the city. However, if you are travelling by private vehicle, it might be difficult to get free parking area. The garden can be reached by its various entrances. You can also cycle your way up to the park and plenty of parking for cycles is available as well. 




 2.  Fun City, Chandigarh Overview



Located on an expanse of 43 acres, this water amusement park in Ramgarh is the biggest in North India. It boasts of one activity pool, three landing pools and a wave pool, a cluster of water slides of various shapes and sizes, which makes for a delightful ride for the water lovers.

Other popular draws are the lazy river ride, splash pool, aqua dance, slides like white multi lane, typhoon tunnel, white slide, red dragon slide, run away raft slide and pendulum slide.

 3. SUKHNA LAKE  CHANDIGARH




The lake was created by Le Corbusier and the Chief Engineer P L Verma. To preserve its tranquility, Corbusier insisted on two things: that it be forbidden for motor boats to circulate in the water, and for vehicular traffic to be prohibited on top of the dam (promenade).

Water-sporting activities like boating, yachting and water-skiing are carried out with absolute zeal and enthusiasm here. The Sukhna lake has the longest channel for rowing and yachting in Asia. The lake also witnesses a number of festivals that are rejoiced by the tourists as well as the denizens. Sukhna also has a membership-based club that offers myriad facilities to its members. This place is the most sought after picnic spot in Chandigarh. Just a small walk at the shores of the lake relaxes the mind and provides immense peace. The picturesque waterfront adorned with the melodious chirp of birds and a serene atmosphere captivates you so much so that you forget the world and rejoice every moment at the lake!

4 .Government Museum and Art Gallery, Chandigarh Overview




The Government Museum & Art Gallery is designed by the Swiss born French architect .
The museum has many different sculptures of Buddha. In some sculptures Buddha has long, open hair, while in some he has a mustache with curled hair lock. In earlier days the followers of Buddha used to worship symbolic representations of Buddha. These representations included representative foot print of Buddha or a chakra. Later, when the followers wanted to portray Buddha in human form, they portrayed him in a beautiful Greek god-like form. This can be attributed to the Indo-greek influence in that era.

The museum was constructed on 6th May 1968, before the partition of India. It was designed by the noted Swiss architect Le Corbusier and was inaugurated by Dr. MS Randhawa, then chief commissioner of Lahore. 
The museum is briefly divided into four sections each one showcasing a different sect of history collection. The government museum and art gallery display the sculptures of the ancient India, Medieval India, Gandhara period, etc.


  5.  Rock Garden, Chandigarh Overview





Its is most beautiful MAN MADE mini city made of Rocks by Sh. Naik Chnad G.it is near to Sukhna lake as well.Located in sector 1 of the beautiful city Chandigarh, The Rock Garden has been designed as an open-air exhibition hall using urban and industrial wastes by Nek Chand, a former Road Inspector in Chandigarh. Also known as Neck Chand's Rock Garden, this massive 40-acre garden is a colourful mosaic of art pieces and sculptures made from industrial and home waste. The Rock garden was built in the year 1957 by officer Nek Chand single-handedly in his spare time and has become a long-standing symbol of imagination and novelty in the city. Having a total of about 5,000 statues within its bounds, the Rock Garden is one of the prime attractions of Chandigarh and is a must visit.

The Rock Garden has become almost a heritage site. Artists and connoisseurs from all over the world flock to see this unique and amazing creation. The Concept is daring, the appeal perennial. Visitors leave in admiration, only to return again.
